The tour begins at Kiyora Casa were we will gear up with our E-bikes. The E-bikes used for this tour is a light one with a smaller frame.
We set out and start cycling through the rural scenery of Minamioguni town. Our first destination will be one of the largest and oldest Zelkova Trees in Japan, located in a small atmospheric shrine in the midst of Minamioguni, Akababa area.
We keep cycling and pass through small mountain villages. Or next stop will be at Japan's most embarrassing hot spring can be found right here. It is located in the middle of a river going through the small village of Manganji. Are you brave enough to have a dip?
Manganji Temple, the starting point of Minamioguni town as it is known today. This temple was established more than 800 years ago by one of the families that ushered in the era of Samurai. Stop by and enjoy the beautiful moss covered statues carefully crafted architecture of this stunning temple.
Konpirasugi is the oldest cedar tree in all of Minamioguni with an impressive age of 1200 years. This ancient beast has been around since way before the norsemen first set foot on the continent that is now known as America and way before the the first christian crusade was ever initiated.
Enjoy lunch at Mori no Jikan (Forest Time), a lovely restaurant, tucked away in small grove of trees. A visit here is like traveling into a movie by studio Ghibli. (Closed during winter season, when Mori no Jikan is closed we will have lunch at Ringo no Ki, another lovely local restaurant that also operates as a bakery.)
As we live our lunch restaurant we will keep cycling through the rural landscapes of Minamioguni until we arrive back at the farmers' market Kiyora-casa where you can enjoy a coffee or an ice cream before the tour ends.
If you arrive by bus, get off at Minamioguni Yakuba Bus stop. Follow the road to your right and you will pass a gas station and a coin laundry on your left hand side. Take a left turn across the river and you will see a triangular building called Kiyora Casa. This is our meeting point.
