Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

First stop of the tour is Taqah where the castle and the beach are visited. The castle was built 300 years ago by a Wali and offers an impressive insight into the former life in the castle. You can discover for example old objects of daily use, furniture, clothing and traditional jewelry.

2

The beach in Taqah fascinates by its white sand and crystal clear water. There is also a cliff right next to the beach from where you have a breathtaking view over the beautiful widths of the beach.

3

On this tour you will dive into the beauty of the eastern Salalah and be fascinated with what nature and people have to offer. We will go to Wadi Darbat in the Qara Mountains, where between numerous waterfalls and impressive rock formations the animals of the area gather for drinking at the riverbed.

4

Jebel Samhan is the highest point in Dhofar region and fascinates with it's panorama view over the landscape. The peak of the mountain is so high that you often find yourself higher than the clouds which makes the experience even more special.

5

Tawi Ateer means "Well of Birds" and reminds of a scenery from Jurassic Parc. The Taiq Sinkhole is the world's third largest sinkhole measuring 1km in length and 200m in depth.

6

Another featured sight at Mughsail are the blowholes, where water from the sea forces its way through the rock, shooting up to 28 m high in peak season. High tide during Khareef brings the best sights, but the phenomenon may be observed at high tides throughout the year. Between the beach and the blowholes you will pass the lagoon, a haven for birds migrating between Africa and Europe or Asia.

7

Coming down from the mountains, you’ll head west to popular Mughsail. The first stop is the beautiful sand beach, sprinkled with gazebos and palm trees for those who want to rest in the shade as they listen to the waves. The mountains come very close to the ocean at that point and make for magnificent views.

8

The final stop west will Masood Beach, a beautiful white sand beach, tucked so neatly into the mountains, some call it the ‘hidden beach.’ The close combination of sheer mountains with the sand and water are a stunning sight to enjoy.
The return journey to Salalah will include a view of famed frankincense trees and at many points along the trip you may get the chance to see camels or other animals of Dhofar.
