The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues located in Luxor , Egypt. They were built during the 18th Dynasty of ancient Egypt and are believed to depict the pharaoh Amenhotep III , who ruled from approximately 1386 to 1353 BCE. The statues are made from a single block of stone and stand at a height of about 60 feet (18 meters), weighing around 1000 tons each.

The Colossi of Memnon were originally part of the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III , which was a grand structure dedicated to the pharaoh's worship and funerary cult. The temple complex was once one of the largest and most opulent in ancient Egypt. However, much of it has been destroyed over the centuries, leaving behind only the two colossal statues.
