K21 shows international contemporary art from the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen: On the 3rd floor, the presentation focuses on new acquisitions from recent years.
The collection, which has been built up since 1961 and includes major works of classical modernism, can be seen in the K20. A selection of works by Paul Klee gives an impression of the rich holdings of over 120 works. The presentation also includes top-class paintings by Wassily Kandinsky, Max Beckmann, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, among others.
In 2007, KIT - Art in the Tunnel, a spectacular meeting place for contemporary art, was opened directly beneath Düsseldorf's Rhine promenade - in a space between the tunnel tubes for car traffic. Visitors can reach the underground exhibition area via a large staircase or elevator through the café. The focus of the program is on the presentation of young, contemporary art from the fields of sculpture, painting, photography, video and installation art.
The NRW Forum Düsseldorf is an international exhibition center for photography, pop and digital culture - a lively ideas factory for the whole family. In group and solo exhibitions, festivals, lectures, workshops, film screenings and other innovative formats, we address current social issues and translate them into energetic, dialogic formats. The interdisciplinary program is characterized by the highest artistic quality and cultural relevance - and is still accessible and entertaining.
Experiments, artistic attitudes and sensual experiences. International trends and Düsseldorf positions, new talents and big names find their place in the idiosyncratic house on Grabbeplatz under the direction of Dr. Gregor Jansen. The art gallery has always been a base for artists, a location for opportunities.
As a house for temporary exhibitions, the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf does not have a collection. Nevertheless, some works of art, especially in the outdoor space, shape the image of the house.
