Get started with this tour at 12:30 PM. You'll meet your well presented English Speaking Guide at the meeting point. Start the walking tour and after visiting the St Francis Church, go to a local restaurant for a Kerala meal. The famous dishes of this meal are Chicken Ularthu, Kerala Chicken roast, Fried fish, Kerala fish curry, Beef ularthu or beef roast and thoran, veg ularthu, olan, Kuttu curry, potato podimas, a gravy made with green mango called Manga charu, Dry Prawn chammandi, Coconut chammandi etc.
Visit Santa Cruz Basilica – a 450-year-old church, followed by a walk through the Portuguese and Dutch part of this quaint town. The homes tell a story that your guide will be happy to narrate.
After unearthing the treasures of this area, go to a restaurant for local snacks and tea/coffee.
Move towards a cultural centre and experience a mesmerising performance of Kathakali - a "story play" genre of art, but one distinguished by the elaborately colorful make-up, costumes and face masks that the traditionally male actor-dancers wear followed by Kalaraipayattu - a gift to the modern world and the mother of all martial arts.
Legend traces the 3000-year-old art form to Sage Parasurama- the master of all martial art forms and credited to be the re-claimer of Kerala from the Arabian Sea.
