About this experience

Delphi is an ancient city and one of the most important Greek temple and oracle of Apollo. It situated in the territory of Phocis on the steep lower slope of Mount Parnassus. Delphi is now a major archaeological site with well-preserved ruins. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Delphi is the first touristic attraction of the antiquity and on our wonderful tour, you will truly immerse yourself in ancient history.

Your guide will pick you up n the port or another place you are staying in Athens. After that, you will have a drive through the scenic countryside to have stops in amazing ancient cities to explore them with your guide.

The locations you will see – Livadeia, an ancient city, Arachova, and of course Delphi.

During the day you will have time to taste the famous Greek food and your guide will give you advice of the best places to have it.

Livadeia is a town in central Greece. It is the capital of the Boeotia regional district. Livadeia lies 90 km north-west of Athens, 64 km west of Chalkida, 63 km south-east of Lamia, 44 km east-south-east of Amfissa, and 91 km east-north-east of Nafpaktos.

Arachova is a mountain town and a former municipality in the western part of Boeotia, Greece, originally called Karyai. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is a municipal unit, part of the municipality Distomo-Arachova-Antikyra. Its name is of South Slavic origin and denotes a place with walnut trees.

Delphi is a town on Mount Parnassus in the south of mainland Greece. It's the site of the 4th-century-B.C. Temple of Apollo, once home to a legendary oracle. This extensive mountainside archaeological complex contains the remains of the sanctuaries of Apollo and Athena Pronaia, as well as an ancient stadium and theater. Delphi Archaeological Museum displays artifacts found among the ruins.

The oracle of Apollo at Delphi was famed throughout the Greek world and even beyond. The oracle - the Pythia or priestess - would answer questions put to her by visitors wishing to be guided in their future actions. The oracle stated that if Croesus went to war then a great empire would surely fall.

The Temple of Athena Pronaia was a temple at the ancient site of Delphi, in the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, a group of buildings comprising temples and treasuries as well as the famous Tholos of Delphi. It was actually built thrice.

Stop 6

The Omphalos of Delphi is an ancient marble monument that was found at the archaeological site of Delphi. The omphalos represents the stone that Rhea wrapped in swaddling clothes, pretending it was Zeus, in order to deceive Cronus.
