The lankatilaka veharaya is considered to be one of the best examples of traditional Sinhalese temple architecture in 14th century it has built by king Buwenekaba IV in Gampola era.

Built on the rock the temple is reached by a long series of rock-cut steps an arched passage of image house leads through a mandapa (hall) in to the inner sanctum which is richly decorated with beautiful floral designs the two side walls and the ceiling are decorated with paintings doors of wood and bright frescos with sited image of the Buddha.

In 1344 king Buwenakabahu iv was built Gadaladeniya temple with an ancient monastery on the flat rock Didggela pilimhalawa in kandy.

UIdawattekelle sanctuary is a historical forest reservation in hill country during the Kandyan period udawattakelle sanctuary was called as “uda wasala watta “ it has been recorded that who called senkeda for who named the city real name senkadagala derives , lived in a cave in this forest .the cave now known as the senkadagalalena is located on the slope above the temple of the tooth the sanctuary is also of religious importance as there are three Buddhist meditation hermitage and three rock shelter dwellings for Buddhist monk senanayakaramaya and Tahpowanaya and three cave dwellings for Buddhist monks “buddhi-Lena maître –Lena and senkadagala –Lena

The sanctuary is famous for it is extensive avifauna the reserve also contains a great variety of plant, species, especially lianas, shrubs, and small trees., many of small and medium-size mammals that inhabit Sri Lanka can be seen here several kinds of snakes and other reptiles might also be seen at udawattakelle was announced as a forest reserve in 1856 and it becomes a sanctuary in 1938. The forest was reserved for the royal family and the pond situated in the forest was used for bathing the public was restricted from accessing the forest hence the name “forbidden forest”

Kandyan Dance show is every evening a very beautiful event at Kandy .it was originally performed by dancers who were identified as a separate caste under the Kandyan feudal system. They were aligned to the Temple of the Tooth and had a significant role to play in the Kandy procession held each year by the temple.

The dance waned in popularity as the support for the dancers from the Kandyan kings ended during the British period. It has now been revived and adapted for the stage and is Sri Lanka's primary cultural export.
