Stop 1

A first mosque was built in 1148 by Sultan Almohade Abdelmoumen after conquering Marrakech. He will rebuild a second version of similar size around 1158. This is the current version, the first having been demolished. Yacoub Al-Mansour will finalize the construction of the minaret around 1195.3 The Koutoubia is considered an important example of Almohad architecture and the architecture of Moroccan mosques in general.3 The 77-meter minaret is decorated with different geometric patterns and surmounted by an arrow and metal orbs.

Stop 2

Jamaa Alfna Square is a famous public square in the southwest of the medina of Marrakech in Morocco. This traditional, popular and lively mecca, especially at night, attracts more than a million visitors each year.

3
Stop 3

The medina is the name of the old town of Marrakech. From the air it looks like a giant beehive, and inside the medina there are almost endless activities to do. From the most luxurious accommodation in the world, to a traditional Moroccan bath or hammam, to visiting palaces, markets and mosques, there is so much to see and do in the Marrakech medina!

Surrounded by some 19 kilometers of ramparts built in 1122, the Marrakech Medina is a World Heritage Site and named after the entire historic center of the city. It is the oldest part of the city, also known as the Old Town. Until over 100 years ago, the entire city of Marrakech and its commercial activities were located within these walls, certainly before it began its economic expansion.
