You'll have approximately 5 hours of free time on Aki no Miyajima. Here are the recommended ways to spend your time:
Firstly, be sure to visit Itsukushima Shrine, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site which is renowned as a floating shrine on the sea. Afterward, explore Momiji-dani Park to enjoy the maple leaves, which are especially beautiful in autumn but worth seeing year-round. Additionally, for panoramic views, you can take a 20-minute journey from the base of the mountain via Miyajima Ropeway to Mt. Misen.

After getting off the Shinkansen at Hiroshima Station, please proceed to the conventional train transfer gate. Please note that you may stand from Hiroshima Station to Miyajima-guchi Station on a local train. (Non-reserved seat)
After getting off the conventional train, please take 8 minutes walk to Ferry terminal along the seaside. There are two operating companies. In this tour, you will board the ferry operated by “Miyajima Matsudai Kisen Tourist Ship”. Please submit the enclosed boarding coupon (ferry ticket) at the boarding counter and receive a round-trip ticket. One boarding coupon per group for round-trip. Departures are every 10-15 minutes, and the ferry ride takes approximately 10 minutes. After arriving at Miyajima, please stroll down the area on your own and return to Miyajima in time.
You can stay at Miyajima for 5 hours. Enjoy exploring the famous Itsukushima Shrine, Momijidani Park, or take the ropeway to Mt.Misen.
Itsukushima Shrine is a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its floating torii gate. The shrine and its torii gate are unique for being built over water, seemingly floating in the sea during high tide. The shrine consists of multiple buildings, including a prayer hall, main hall and noh theater stage, which are connected by boardwalks and supported by pillars above the sea.
Momijidani literally means “Maple valley”, and they are beautiful in all seasons. Also, there is an opportunity to encounter dears in the park. Take a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in the natural beauty.
For panoramic views, head to Mt. Misen and reach the summit via the Miyajima Ropeway. Enjoy the breathtaking vistas and serene atmosphere. Round trip fare for ropeway is 2,000yen for adult (12years old and older) and 1,000yen for children (6-12 years old).
Take a ferry from the Miyajimaguchi ferry boarding area to Miyajimaguchi Station on the opposite shore.
Please take a local train from Miyashimaguchi Station to Hiroshima Station (unreserved seats).
Return to Shin-osaka station: 20:31pm - 21:21pm
