Batista Amado Park – DE starting point to feel the Earth alive

Between the silence DA Mendiga and the murmuring DA mountain, the Batista Amado Park is where the journey begins. Here, the stone and water have met for millions DE years, shaping the territory and teaching us how to listen to the landscape. It is the natural portal to the Water Roof, where the limestone breathes and the rain draws ephemeral shapes.

In this space DE balance between man and nature, each step prepares the visitor for what follows: the total immersion in the cársic heart of the Natural Park of the Serras DE Aire y Candeeiros.

Discovered in 1994 in an ancient limestone pebble, they reveal about 20 tracks with hundreds OF footprints attributed to sauropos DE, giant herbivorous dinosaurs that lived about 175 million years ago. The marks, preserved at the bottom OF an ancient lagoon, allow you to observe the size, rhythm and direction of the steps of these animals, making the place a view DA the open book of Earth history.

The Lapa dos Pocilgões, located near DE Cabeço das Pombas, is one of the most iconic caves of the Extremenho Calcário Massive. Excavated over thousands OF years by the action OF water on the limestone, combines archaeological, geological and symbolic value.

It has been inhabited since Prehistory, witnesses the ancient occupation of the mountains. Today, the visitor finds a cavity DE great natural beauty.

The Jurassic Beach is one of the most fascinating sites in the Natural Park of the Serras DE Aire y Candeeiros.
Today it is a plain OF dry limestone, but about 170 million DE years ago it was the bottom OF a coastal lagoon, where marine animals left their traces.

The animals preserved in the rock tell the story DE a lost coastline, a shallow, warm and full DE life sea that remained recorded forever.
It is a place that unites science, imagination and contemplation, where the visitor can literally walk on the ancient seabed.
