Detailed itinerary

1

The Christ Church (or Christuskirche) is a Lutheran church in centre of Windhoek, and has become one of the most iconic landmarks for the city. Here you will have the chance to learn about the fascinating history of this church, and time permitting, look inside.

2

One of the most beautiful (and green) gardens in Windhoek lies at the base of the Tintenpalast, Namibia's Parliament Building in the city centre. The gardens itself are now home to 3 statues of iconic who were instrumental in gaining Namibia's independence. Here you can learn more about these important Namibians, as well as the current political processes that are shaping modern day Namibia

3

This old fort is said to be Windhoek's very first building, and was used by the German army to defend their hold on the city. In more recent times, it was a museum, but now stands empty, however it's rich history still make it worth a visit

4
Stop 4

Get a feel for how over half of Windhoek's population live whilst exploring the township area. Katutura itself is a hugely diverse area, and broken up into several areas which range in standard of living from large modern houses to shack dwellings. While it has a somber history from the apartheid regime, no visit to Windhoek is complete without exploring this now bustling area, including a stop at the local market.

5

Finish up the tour with a stop at Penduka, a craft project designed to uplift and inspire the local women to support themselves and their families. It's also a great chance to buy some souvenirs or gifts before returning home.
