Vesuvius is an active volcano, in continental Europe, as well as one of the most studied and dangerous in the world, due to the high population and its explosive characteristics, the peak reaches 1,281 meters. You get to the crater with a 20/25 minute walk uphill. The ticket to the crater includes an internal guide, (2 hours) .Herculaneum was buried under meters of ash and pumice from the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. A professional private guide is highly recommended to better visit it in its most important structures. The guide is on request, will help you skip the long lines even at the ticket office, and is not included in the tour price. On request it is also possible to take a lunch break in a traditional local restaurant to taste a set menu (all inclusive) with local foods, drinks, wine and desserts.
