About this experience

Fatehpur Sikri was made the political capital of the Mughal Empire by Emperor Akbar from the period of 1571 to 1585. The capital was later shifted to the city of Agra. There are majestic buildings built by Akbar in Fatehpur Sikri. There is a fort in the site which is a blend of Mughal and Persian architecture.

Buland Darwaza: It ranks among the important monuments in the place. This enormous gateway has a height of 54 meters and is largest gateway in the world. It was made in the year 1575 to celebrate Emperor Akbar's success in conquering Gujarat and is a fine blend of Persian and Mughal architecture.

Diwan-i-Khas- Hall: Popularly known as the "Ekstambha Prasada", the Diwan-i-Khas served as the royal chamber of Emperor Akbar. It is designed according to the Persian style of architecture and is decorated with fine sculpture and precious stones.

Fatehpur Sikri is one of the 3 World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Two of the most happiest memories of Mughal Emperor Akbar's Life are associated with Sikri. First is the conquest of Gujarat by Mughal forces & second is the birth of a son, what he immensely wanted.
It was built in 16th century but unfortunately when the construction was completed, they had to move & since then the city has been abandoned from last 450 years.
It was a capital pf Mughal Empire in 16th century & was also a centre of trade back in the time.
The monument is in 02 parts. First is the historical part where you can see palaces, hall of public & private audiences, Dream House of King Akbar & Mughak Harem.
Second is the religious part of city where you can see the exquisitely beautiful Jama Masjid or The Friday Mosque & the shrine of Sufi Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti.

The big gateway which was built in 16th century to commemorate the victory of Mughal forces on Gujarat. It shows the symbol & authority of MUghal Empire. It is the tallest gateway in Asia with 52 metres in height.
