Detailed itinerary

1

We start at the market square. This is a central point in the city. We walk to the rental store to adjust your bike. Then we will ride through the city to discover the different sights.

2

This city palace of the lords of Gruuthuse is an absolute eye-catcher! Above the entrance we still see the statue of Louis, the man who gave this palace its grandeur.

3
Stop 3

The beguinage of Bruges is both interesting and charmingly beautiful. Several white houses were built around an open courtyard. It's quiet and above all authentic!

4
Stop 4

This is a romantic spot! Nevertheless it was of importance for the people of Bruges. This lovely lake served as a water tank to control the water in the canals.

5

The tower was part of the defense system. In this late medieval tower gunpowder was stored. We will continue our tour on the old city walls.

6

The gate of the Cross was already rebuilt in 1366. The two impressive towers with and two octagonal turrets are still preserved. Two emperors used this gate to enter Bruges, both Charles V and Napoleon.

7

This mill is one of the four mills on the ramparts of Bruges. It was built round 1776. It served to grind flour.

8

This former hospital is located near one of the Bruges canals. On the banks are the historic houses with stepped gables and bell gables.

9

Along the canal there's an ancient semi-circular tower. It's the sole remnant of the first city wall. This makes it worth discovering! It's history goes back as far as 1127.
