The Benedictine Abbey here was founded in 1055 by Andrew I. His untouched tomb can be seen today in the subchurch. The present baroque church is full of beautifully carved wooden altars. The museum attached is partly home to the present monks living here, partly gives an interactive exhibition about the stormy past of the monastery, Lavender is planted and cared by the monks nearby, some lavender produsts - chocolate, icecream, wine and pálinka - you can buy in the old village, just as creames, parfumes, soapes and oils of lavender.
The old village was once upon a time home to fishermen. Today you find here pottery. lavender shops. coffees, restaurants and souiveneer shops. The old thached roof house give a special atmosphere.
