Your tour begins with a cruise through the City of Nassau where your driver will give you an historical background tour of the City. See statues of Queen Victoria of England and the first Governor General of the independent Bahamas. Visit Parliament-square where the Bahamian Laws are made and learn about the various Governments that controlled these Islands.
Our first stop will be at The Bahamas Rum Cake Factory. Here guest will have a chance to see how Rum-cake is made in The Bahamas and sample Free rum cakes with an option to purchase these delicious cakes
Next, we leave Nassau and cross over a bridge (Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge) to Paradise Island. Here, guest will be able to explore picturesque Atlantis and walk through the Casino and the gift shops. Take a photo in the King's Throne. Explore the allure of the ancient civilized society of Atlantis.
Also know as "The 66 Steps". This 102ft natural staircase was carved out of the limestone rocks by slaves in the late 1700's to commemorate the 66 year rule of Queen Victoria over her British Empire. Very beautiful, natural picturesque landscape. A must see!
At the top of The Queen's Staircase is Bennet's Hill. Here you will find Fort Fincastle and The Water Tower. This Fort was built in 1783 with limestone and slave labor by British Lord Dunmore to protect Nassau harbor from invasions by the Spaniards and French army. The views of Nassau harbor are a must see from the outside of the Fort. ($3 Admission to walk inside of the Fort)
John Watling's Distillery is a local Rum producer in The Bahamas. Our guest will have the opportunity to tour the compound with a guide from the distillery that will give you the full history of the John Watling's and their products. Guest also receive Free pina-colada samples with an option to purchase
Next, we travel west to the final destination of our tour, The “Fish Fry” at Arawak Cay. The name "Arawak Cay" is descended from the original inhabitants of these Bahama islands, the Arawak Indians. At the Fish Fry, guest have the option to sit and dine at the local restaurants and try some of our local cuisine like conch, lobster, and macaroni. Our guides will be sure to take you to the best restaurants with the best prices. Your tour ends with a guided tour back into the historic city of Nassau with drop-off back at your pick-up location.
Guest that do not wish to eat at the Fish Fry can chose to spend there remaining time at Junkanoo Beach which is next to the Fish Fry. The tour passes by the beach as we head back to the cruiseport so Guest can take photos.
2 Blocks down from the Cruiseport entrance is the icon 'Staw Market' which is basically a 'Flee market' for locally produced souvenirs, wood carvings, artwork, etc. Guest have the option to end the Tour at this market to continue browsing around Nassau and shop for souvenirs before they head back to the CruiseShip. Or, Guest will be taken directly back to the cruiseport entrance.
