Tarquinia is very close to Civitavecchia 20 km north of the port. The Tarquinia Necropolis has been described as “the first chapter in the history of great Italian painting ”for its exceptional painted tombs adorned with scenes of human life: huntsmen, fishermen, musicians, dancers, jugglers and athletes.
