The Scanderbeg Square, conceived before the Second World War by Italian architect A.Brasini, became the host site of Stalin's statues, Skanderbeg and Enver Hoxha's ones, but finally only the Skanderbeg Statue is present nowadays. The pedestrian "Murat Toptani" as a trail is of historical value and can be considered as a natural, museum and historical gallery.
It traverses several monumental artifacts that make it quite historic, such as the Fortress of Tirana, the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences, the park that can be considered the country's first national park, the old National Library, and the former Political Persecutor's Building followed in the end by Tanners Bridge. Walking along the way you can find as well some of the latest touristic destinations; Kalaja e Tiranes, the National Gallery of Arts, the Residence of the Albanian Royal Family, etc.
