Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Discover Slovenia's most spectacular sites – the famous Bled and Bohinj. Iconic lakes and the one and only island in Slovenia. Enjoy unique natural scenaries, learn about local crafts & traditions of one of Europe's most picturesque alpine regions.

2

You can sail to Bled Island every day of the year in a pletna, a hand-made wooden boat, which is driven by a pletnar, a boat rower, who oars standing up. An electric motorboat line or small boats are also available for transport across the lake.
Your visit to the island has no time limits. You can return with the first free pletna boat or with an electric motorboat.
You will learn the most about the island’s history, its sacral heritage and the rich pilgrimage content of this holy place during a guided visit. Of course, you can always choose to visit the island on your own.
Take your time to make your visit to Bled Island a real holiday.

3
Stop 3

In the middle of one of Slovenia’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Bled, lays a small and charming island with a church on the top of it. One of the most known things about the Bled island is the church bell, also called the wishing bell, that you could ring while making a wish, which then supposedly comes true.

4

The Savica waterfall in the Komarča wall is one of the most visited sights in Bohinj. Janez Vajkard Valvasor wrote about the Savica waterfall, and later also the famous Slovenian poet dr. France Preseren. Supposedly, at the rising sun at the Savica Waterfall, he drew inspiration for the most important Slovenian epic poem, Krst pri Savici. As early as 1807, the 78-meter-high Savica waterfall, which supplies the Sava River, was visited by the Austrian Archduke John of Habsburg, the grandson of Empress Maria Theresa. Today, from the starting point - Koča pri Savici mountain hut - a beautifully landscaped tourist trail leads to the waterfall. The ascent of 553 steps will take you to the waterfall in twenty minutes of walking through the forest. In between, benches are available to relax.

5

Bohinj is located in the heart of the Julian Alps, the biggest lake in Slovenia. The twenty-four villages in and above the valley hide the attractive riches of the past, the cheerfulness of the present and the mystery of the future. Bohinj abounds in unique natural beauties and spectacular landscapes.
