The adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 am and 5:00 am. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic 4-hour drive towards Soraypampa, situated at an altitude of 3850 m.a.s.l., where the journey will truly begin.
Once you arrive in Soraypampa, you'll enjoy a hearty and energizing breakfast to prepare you for the day's trek. After breakfast, you'll begin the 1.5-hour hike towards Humantay Lake, located at 4200 m.a.s.l. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and on clear days, you'll have the chance to see the towering Salkantay and Humantay peaks. If you prefer a less strenuous option, horses are available for rent to make the trek easier.
Upon reaching Humantay Lake, you’ll have ample time to immerse yourself in the beauty of the site. Take in the breathtaking views, snap photos, make an offering to the Apus, and if you’re feeling brave, take a swim in the crystal-clear waters when it’s sunny. After exploring and enjoying the area, it’s time to start the descent back to Soraypampa.
The return trek to Soraypampa takes around 1.5 hours, which is much easier than the way up. Once back in Soraypampa, you’ll sit down to a well-deserved lunch, allowing time to rest before the drive back to Cusco. Afterward, you'll make your way back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm, filled with unforgettable memories from the day.
