About this experience

Join us for “Griffins, Goblets, and Gold,” an interactive ‘Magical Arts’ tour in the Metropolitan Museum inspired by a well-loved book series about magic and wizards. See spaces and places that might remind you of those in the books, from part of an actual castle to mythical creatures that resemble those in the story. You’ll participate in activities, explore the museum from a wizard’s perspective… and maybe even do a little magic. (Appropriate interactive wizards gear is encouraged.) Advance reservations required. Please allow two hours for your tour. Recommended for ages 8 and up

Please note: There are no objects or replicas of objects from the movies in the Metropolitan Museum.

Meeting point

Meet by the giant statue of a seated Pharaoh to the right of the info desk in the Great Hall. The guide will hold a sign with the tour name, and also have your tickets. If you're running late, call or text tickets will be left at group check-in desk under tour name with the first stop.

We’re confirming your appointment for "Griffins, Goblets, and Gold: A Wizarding Tour. The Harry Potter books inspired this interactive tour; we’ll be looking at spaces and objects that may remind you of those in the series, as well as some possible influences. Please note: There are no objects—or replicas of objects--from the movies in the museum.

The Met is located at 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street. Please enter at the main entrance. Be sure to leave time to go through the security line, especially if the weather is inclement or you have booked during a holiday period.

Please meet by the giant statue of a seated Pharaoh located to the right of the info desk in the Great Hall. The guide will be on the museum-entrance side, holding a sign that says “Wizarding Tour.” The guide will have your tickets, which are also good in the museum after the tour ends.

If you have any problems or questions, please call or text (917) 513-4081. If you think you’re going to be late, please let us know, and we will arrange to leave your tickets at the “Advance Tickets and Groups” desk. Guides do not pick up their phones and cannot receive texts or phone calls once the tour begins.
