Puerto Princesa Baywalk was a slum area where informal settlers lived before. The local government rehabilitated it into a park and gave resettlement for the residents. The Immaculate Conception Cathedral, also known as the Puerto Princesa Cathedral, is a Catholic church located on Rizal Avenue in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa.

Interesting museum pieces are a historical typewriter and stenography machine, which Mendoza claimed was used by Gen. Douglas McArthur in Manila; old vehicles used during WWII; rusting guns and ammunition; uniforms of American soldiers, miniature war planes and ships; and old paper denominations used during the war.

On the wall are the names of 1,000 guerrillas who belonged to the Special Battalion and fought in the city and province during the Japanese occupation.

A National Historical Site, Plaza Cuartel is a restored ruin of an old garrison where, in the evening of December 14, 1944 Japanese soldiers burned around 150 American prisoners of war in a tunnel found beneath the park's portals, which now stands as a grim reminder of World War II atrocities. The remains of those who died were buried at St.Louis Country, Jefferson Barracks, National Cemetery, Missouri, U.S.A in 1952. Only I prisoners survived to tell the story..
