Detailed itinerary

1

The palace is similar to a square in Venice. It is one of the best-preserved monuments of Roman architecture in the world.

2

The last of the 12 sphynxes survived as one of the famous Diocletian symbols. It was made of black granite and dated to Tuthmosis II's reign (15th century BC). How can it possibly be alive? It remains a mystery.

3

The peristyle is the main center of Diocletian's Palace, the main hall for the mighty Emperor, a living son of Jupiter. He appeared at the center of Protyron, showing his greatness to the people.

4

The basement halls are an invisible part of Diocletian's Palace, where the great Emperor lived his multifaceted existence. Now it is full of life. Excavation revealed a lot of different halls inside and even a corridor connecting Diocletian’s Palace with Riva. The fans of "Game of Thrones" will be excited to know that several halls were used as interiors for the movie.

5

The Temple of Jupiter is located in the center of Diocletian’s Palace. It has been perfectly preserved inside as well as outside, despite the fact that it dates between 295 and 305 AD.

6

Venetian towers were built in the 15th century by Venetians; the last remnants we see are the remains of an octagonal tower, as a reminder of Venetian influence more than 200 years ago. (Visit from outside)

7

In Split, an old central square combines modern life with numerous cafes, boutiques, and shops with the ancient spirit of Emperor Time, when the Emperor walked down to the square with his servants.

8

The Riva Promenade is the most public street in Split; however, it looks like it did in Napoleonic times, two centuries ago. The rushing street is the face of modern business and public life, with its cafes, magazines, and shops. Riva is the main scene for cultural and political events, including carnival.
