Puerto Plata's charm goes far beyond its stunning beaches and exhilarating nightlife. Nestled within its vibrant city streets lies a unique attraction unlike no other - the Paseo de Doña Blanca, affectionately known as the Pink Street. This burst of color isn't just a feast for the eyes. The Pink Street is a portal to the city's rich history and a testament to an extraordinary woman.

Forget about generic souvenir shops and selfie-obsessed crowds. Stepping onto Pink Street transports you to a Victorian fairytale. Every detail, from the candy-pink cobblestones to the overflowing flower boxes, paints a picture of whimsical charm. But beneath the Instagram-worthy facade lies a fascinating story waiting to be shared.

Fifi Jewelry Amber Museum is one of the most visited places in Puerto Plata. Inside, it hosts one of the biggest resin exhibitions in the Dominican Republic. The country has the most important amber deposits in the world; moreover, blue, green or warm honey colours are unique from this area due to its volcanic activity.

Here, you can discover the history of this vegetal-origin precious stone. One of the most important stones of this museum is a 40cm lizard conserved inside a piece of amber. This resin can hold prehistoric fossils of plants and little animals on its inside due to its sticky nature, that turns this stone in subject of study. It is said that Steven Spielberg was inspired by this museum when he was working on his famous film Jurassic Park.

4

Parque Independencia–also known as Parque Central–is the centerpiece of Puerto Plata city, framed with royal palms and hugged on all four corners by pastel-colored Victorian-era architecture. The white Catedral del Apóstol San Felipe towers over the square, where Puerto Plateños relax throughout the day and night with friends and family. You’ll find a café, ice cream parlor, and restaurant around the square, while the city’s key museums are just a couple of blocks away.
