About this experience

Are you someone who enjoys nature and hiking? If so, let's discover the Southern Ridges, a series of hills and parks that connect Kent Ridge Park, Hort Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, Mount Faber Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve.

During this excursion, we will trek to the Henderson Waves, a pedestrian bridge that spans a deep valley 36 meters beneath. We will then proceed to Faber Point, the highest point in Mount Faber Park. From the observation areas there, we will have a panoramic vista of the city, the southern region of Singapore, and the southern islands. Learn also about the everyday life of an average Singaporean and the development of Singapore's housing and maritime industries.

This hike takes you through a secondary forest with a diverse variety of flora and fauna. As we walk along the treetops, be on the lookout for the oriental whip snake basking on the branches, the cicada's call, or the straw-headed bulbul's song. This journey is definitely a nature lover's paradise!

Detailed itinerary

1

Traverse on an elevated bridge that cuts through the adinandra belukar, a distinct type of secondary forest where the forest regenerates after exhaustive agriculture exploitation. Look out for the rich flora and fauna, such as the straw headed bulbul, the weaver ant nest or the oriental whip snake, among the tree canopy. I will also share with you the types of wildlife that can be found in Singapore.

2

The Terrace Garden is made up of a series of semi-circular terraces situated at the top of Telok Blangah Hill. From here, you will be able to enjoy a breath-taking 360-degree view of Singapore. If you are lucky, we might be able to see a sea of pink bougainvillea bloom.

3

The Henderson Waves is a pedestrian bridge that spans across a deep valley 36 metres below. The unique wave-like design of the Henderson Waves makes for an unusual sight and a famous photo spot.

4

Faber Point is the highest point on Mount Faber. From the lookout points here, we will have a panoramic view of the city, the southern part of Singapore and the southern islands. If the weather is good, we will be able to see Marina Bay Sands from afar! From these lookout points, I will also share about the life of average Singaporean, the development of Singapore’s housing and the importance of the maritime industry to Singapore.
