This Maroon settlement is perched high up in the mountains of the bread-basket parish of St. Elizabeth. Described as a nation within a nation this unique community is the symbol of the indigenous African pride as exuded by its inhabitants; the maroons. These Maroons are descendants of former runaway slaves who fled the slave plantations of Jamaica to form their communities.
