About this experience

Enjoy a one day excursion to Ait Benhaddou from Marrakech with All Morocco Tours. An experienced driver with a 4×4 air conditioned car will pick-up from your Marrakech accommodations at 7:00. Soak up the scenery as you travel into the Atlas Mountains, learn about life in the mountain villages, and cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass, climbing to 7,415 feet (2,260 meters).

The trip will take around 3 hours each way to Ait Benhaddou from Marrakech. The first stop is at the top of Tizi n’Tichka, the second at Kasbah Ait Benhaddou (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the third at Ouarzazate (The Hollywood of Africa). Afterwards, you will return to your desired drop off location in Marrakech at approximately 19:30.

Stop 1

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, famous for films such as The Man Who Would Be King, Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, The Message, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and Gladiator. Aït-Ben Haddou is a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture. The Kasbah is a mainly collective grouping of dwellings. Inside the defensive walls which are reinforced by angle towers and pierced with a baffle gate, houses crowd together – some modest, others resembling small urban castles with their high angle towers and upper sections decorated with motifs in clay brick – but there are also buildings and community areas. It is an extraordinary ensemble of buildings offering a complete panorama of pre-Saharan earthen construction techniques.

Tizi n'Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco, linking the south-east of Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazat through the High Atlas mountains. It lies above the great Marrakesh plains, and is a gateway to the Sahara Desert.
