Detailed itinerary

1

The Bhimbetka Rock Shelter has the oldest-known rock art in India. In fact it is one of the largest prehistoric complexes globally, comprising over 750 rock shelters spread across seven hills. These shelters provide insights into human habitation from the Stone Age to historic times.
The cave paintings depict a variety of themes, including animals, early human activities, and later scenes like warriors on horseback, possibly from the Bronze Age. The paintings evolved from simple depictions of animals and hunting scenes to more complex themes, including religious symbols and magical creatures. The paintings are executed in natural colors.

2

The Bhojpur Temple is an incredibe work of architecture. Located on a mountain top the temple was built by King Bhoj in 1055 B.C. There is a Shivling inside this temple that is made from a single stone and is 7.5 feet long. There are fascinating carvings on the rocks of this temple.
It represents the Bhumija style of architecture, characterized by curvilinear towers and massive pillars. Raja Bhoj, the patron of the temple, was a celebrated ruler known for his contributions to art, literature, and science. He also founded the city of Bhopal and wrote a treatise on civil engineering
