The day begins at 9am, when your personal Egyptologist guide collects you from your hotel for the short journey to Giza in air-conditioned minivan. Here he'll explain the history of ancient Egypt and tell tales of the pharaohs buried in these iconic tombs. You'll climb to the entrance of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World: for an additional charge, your guide can arrange for you to enter the pyramid.
Next, you'll see the pits where the solar boats were excavated. These were boats designed to sail the departed pharaoh across the sky on his journey to eternity and the sun god Ra: admire Khufu's solar boat in the Solar Boat Museum. Stroll out into the desert for a panoramic view of all three pyramids – perfect for selfies! - before enjoying a 25-minute camel ride across the sands.
Your next stop is Egypt's most famous guardian, the 65-foot (20-meter) tall Sphinx. After a look at the Valley Temple, built for the funeral of King Khafre, enjoy a simple Egyptian lunch of foul (stewed fava beans) or kushary (rice, noodles, lentils, and tomato) before returning to your hotel around 1pm.
