Join me as we cycle along the old road of Okutama once used as a trade route to Tokyo.
I will introduce you to the history, nature and culture of the area, which is very different from Tokyo. Along the way, we will come across springs, wasabi fields, old shrines, mountain villages, and maybe spot some wildlife along the way. Our destination is Lake Okutama, a large man made lake, there will visit a small museum exhibiting historic artifacts. We'll then return to town to soak our feet at local onsen - hot spring.
After, we will shop for souvenirs.
Please come 30 mins early to check in and get ready. i.e. 12.30 for 1pm start.
Cycling through the forest we will see a small mountain village that has a spring water source that you can drink and can see wasabi being grown.
Continuing on we will visit a mountain shrine that has been built under a large rock.
Then on to an old suspension foot bridge high up over the river valley, there is a chance to see the local wildlife here, especially monkeys.
I will also explain the small shrines and statues that have been erected along the road.
When we arrive at the lake, we can view the small museum explaining the local heritage and walk along the dam.
This floating bridge is halfway along Lake Okutama.
Customers can experience the calm and serene nature from the middle of the lake.
