About this experience

Tired of tours where the most exciting part is the bus air conditioning? Our East Slovakia Whisky & Spirit Distillery Tour is a delicious escape from the ordinary! What makes it truly unique is the perfect (and slightly absurd) blend of raw mountain majesty and refined liquid craftsmanship.
We start by leaving the majestic High Tatras behind, trading breathtaking rock formations for a day of equally impressive bottle formations. First, we visit Karloff, the home of Tatratea—a Slovak liquid legend that's basically a herbal hug in a bottle. You'll learn the folklore and feel the magic.
Then, for lunch, we don't go to a boring cafe. We refuel at Salaš u Franka, a rustic shepherd’s hut that serves food designed to be a culinary reset button.
The grand finale is Nestville Park, a genuine Slovak whisky wonderland. This isn’t a quick drive-by; it’s a full deep-dive into the secrets of distillation, culminating in a tasting that will turn you from a tourist into a connoisseur.

Detailed itinerary

1

Karloff distillery - The Home of Tatratea
Our first and unforgettable stop is at Karloff, the very birthplace of the legendary Tatratea. This is much more than just a quick visit; it's a deep dive into the story and craftsmanship behind this iconic Slovak liqueur. We will explore the entire production facility, witnessing the careful process that transforms a blend of herbs, tea, and spirits into the drink affectionately known as a "hug in a bottle." You'll learn about its cultural significance and, of course, enjoy a guided tasting to appreciate its complex, one-of-a-kind flavors.

2

Salaš u Franka - A Traditional Lunch
After all that "tea" tasting, we will head to the rustic charm of Salaš u Franka for a well-deserved lunch break. This isn't a modern restaurant; it's a traditional Slovak shepherd's hut where we’ll refuel with hearty, authentic local cuisine. The atmosphere is as genuine as the food, providing a perfect opportunity to relax, soak in the culture, and prepare for the next leg of our liquid journey.

3

Our grand finale is a visit to Nestville Park, a stunning distillery that holds the secret to genuine Slovak whisky. We will be guided through a comprehensive tour, from the very beginning of the distillation process to the art of aging. You'll witness the passion and precision that goes into every bottle and gain a deep appreciation for the history and craftsmanship involved. The tour culminates with a professional whisky tasting session, allowing you to truly savor and understand the smooth, rich flavors that make this whisky so special.
