Agadir was a modern seaside resort and port city until 1960, until an earthquake totally destroyed it on the night of February 29th to March 1st. It is said that around 15,000 people died that night. The city is now in a modern state style rebuilt.
After the Berber Museum you visit the souk, where you can enjoy the wonderful scents and colors of a foreign oriental culture.
The ruins of the Kasbah from the 16th century above are the next point you approach. From there you have a unique view over the new city of Agadir and the long bay as well as the coast.
