Detailed itinerary

1

At the old pilgrimage church of St. Maria Ramersdorf from the 14th century we leave Munich and take the Autobahn (motorway) A8 heading Southeast ...

2

After an 1.5 hour drive in our luxury Mercedes Minivan on the most scenic motorway section in Germany and crossing the german-Austrian border, we reach the spectacular alpine region "Salzkammergut" - the Salzburg Lake District. All road tolls are already included in the tour price, so you can be sure that we will reach our destination in the fastest way!

3

After another hour's drive through the impressive mountains of Salzburg's Lake District we reach the legendary Lake Hallstatt, surrounded by high rock faces. Also at this scenic highlight, we take our time to stop at the most beautiful photo spots!

4
Stop 4

One of the most beautiful sights in Hallstatt is certainly the market square of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the historic square, framed by small picturesque houses, guests from all over the world meet every year. Here the holidaymaker will find cozy cafes to relax, restaurants, a bar popular with young and old, hotels, and of course souvenirs.

In the center of the square stands the mighty Trinity Column.

Afterwards, enjoy a stroll through narrow streets up to St. Michael's Chapel with its magnificent baroque furnishings and its fascinating ossuary and, of course, we will show you the world-famous vantage point, from which countless photos have already been taken of the houses with the Catholic church "glued" to the steep slope above the lake!

5

In the ossuary there are about 1200 skulls of the deceased. Most of them are inscribed and decorated with elaborate ornaments.

The custom of skull painting began here around the year 1720. The whole thing probably did not arise - as long assumed - from the acute lack of space at the cemetery, but from the tradition of individual families.

Please note that the ossuary can only be reached on a relatively steep footpath of about 10 minutes.

6

A cable car takes you up the mountain. Once at the top, the Skywalk impresses with its breathtaking views. Right next to it is a restaurant in the historic Rudolfsturm, of course with a viewing terrace! From here you can reach the Hallstatt salt mine on a 20-minute relatively steeply ascending asphalt footpath. ***** Prices (2025) for ascent and descent by funicular incl. access to the Skywalk: € 24.00 per adult

7
Stop 7

(Optional:) The visit of the salt mines in Hallstatt - the oldest in the world! - is eventful and impressive. In the mines there are 2 adventure slides for young and old. The excursion captivates with action, excitement, light, sound and movement effects as well as virtual experiences. ... The entrance of the salt mines can be reached on a 20-minute relatively steeply ascending asphalt footpath from the funicular mountain station. Please note that if you book the short tour length (10 hours), the visit to the salt mine cannot be combined with Salzburg sightseeing! ***** Prices (2025) for salt mine incl. ascent and descent by funicular and incl. access to the Skywalk: € 43.00 per adult

8

Look forward to a stop at one of the most magnificent viewpoints as you continue your journey: At our feet is Lake Wolfgangsee, picturesquely surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Salzburg Lake District.

Lake Wolfgangsee can also be seen in the aerial photographs in the 'Sound of Music' Filmintro.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a short walk along the panoramic promenade in the popular summer resort of St. Gilgen on the western shore of the lake.

9

On the scenic route from Lake Wolfgangsee to Mondsee, we drive along the shore of the lake of the same name, which was also a film location of 'Sound of Music'.
Please note that this destination cannot be combined with sightseeing in Salzburg...

10

...in the case of Salzburg sightseeing, we drive we drive through the enchanting summer resort of Fuschl am See and then on the panoramic road high above Lake Fuschlsee and see the impressive 'Red Bull' headquarters.

11
Stop 11

OPTIONAL - Please note that this destination cannot be combined with sightseeing in Salzburg...

The Roman Catholic Basilica Mondsee replaces an earlier building from the early 12th century and fascinates with its gothic-baroque decor.

The famous 'Sound of Music'- wedding was filmed here.

12
Stop 12

The crowning glory of our excursion could be the stop in Salzburg. On the Old town district, you will see world-famous buildings and alleys of the over 2000-year-old 'City of Mozart', and numerous locations where Sound of Music scenes were filmed.
