Detailed itinerary

1

All sights mentioned here are carefully selected recommendations. As this is an exclusive tour, you can always contribute your own suggestions; we are also happy to follow your wishes regarding the length of stay at the individual stops!

Now, however, you can look forward to an eventful, informative but also relaxing trip in our new and luxurious / comfortable Mercedes or VW Minivans - at the side of your friendly and professional tour guide you are in good hands right from the start!

... At the old pilgrimage church of St. Maria Ramersdorf from the 14th century we leave Munich and drive on the highway A8 in a southeasterly direction...

2

In the middle of the idyllic foothills of the Alps only a few kilometres from Lake Chiemsee is the historic castle ensemble Wildenwart.
After the assumption of power by the revolutionary government, the Bavarian royal family, including Ludwig III, met at Wildenwart Castle, which was to become the new home for the Wittelsbach family.
In 1979, Max Herzog in Bavaria, great-grandson of Ludwig III, moved with his family into the castle, which can be visited from the outside.

3

In Prien we board a boat of the Chiemsee fleet, which takes us across the lake to the island Herreninsel (ticket is not included in the tour price, only cash payment possible). Before that, it is worth taking a look at the Gothic-Baroque parish church Maria Himmelfahrt, whose church tower went "crazy" in a spectacular way in the 18th century!
***** Prices Chiemsee ferry (2025): Adults: € 13.00 / Children 6 - 15 years € 6.50 *****
With the oldest still functioning steam tram in the world, you can travel contemplatively from the town center to the harbor in summer - as it did over 135 years ago.

4
Stop 4

Herrenchiemsee Palace was to become a replica of the Palace of Versailles, the residence of the French "Sun King" Louis XIV. For financial reasons, however, the most magnificent and expensive castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig II had to be terminated prematurely. On a 35-minute guided tour, which is well worth seeing, you will visit all completed, but also some unfinished rooms. ***** Skip-the-Line Admission (2025) Adults € 11.00 / Children under 18 years are free) *****
Your admission ticket also grants you free access to the so-called "Old Castle", a former monastery building from the 8th century (!) with overwhelming Baroque furnishings. You will also see some very interesting rooms where Ludwig lived during the construction of the castle, as well as the site of the 1948 Constitutional Convention. Located in the historic building complex, a restaurant offers, among other things, fresh Chiemsee fish and a beer garden with a top view over Lake Chiemsee and its other islands.

5
Stop 5

We continue by boat to the only 15.5 ha "large" island Fraueninsel. Your trained guide will be happy to accompany you on a 30-minute tour of the island, show and explain everything worth seeing, including the over 1000-year-old monastery church, the equally old 'Tassilo-' lime tree, as well as the historic gate hall. The microbrewery "Inselbräu" is ideal for a culinary stop, as well as the numerous stalls of the island fishermen.

6

Back on the mainland, you can enjoy the most beautiful view over the lake with the Alps in the background from the Malerwinkel in Gstadt. Before that, we will be happy to show you the place where King Ludwig II translated to "his" island on a natural beach. Did you know that a private station was built especially for him on the railway line Munich - Salzburg? We'll show it to you!

7
Stop 7

OPTIONAL (only possible with the 11-hour tour length "XXL-Time credit"): The Eagle's Nest can be reached from May to October with special buses from the Obersalzberg plateau near Berchtesgaden (depending on snow conditions).
The building, enthroned in a spectacular location at over 1,800 m (5,900 ft) above sea level was built - including the 6.5 km long access road - in just 13 months under mostly the most difficult conditions for the workers at the behest of Martin Bormann. From the bus terminus you can reach the original elevator through a 124-meter-long tunnel, which takes you to the 'Kehlsteinhaus', as it is called in German, now operated as a restaurant, after another 124 meters.
*****
Skip-the-Line Admission Eagle's Nest (2025 - bus ride incl. lift) :
Adults € 31.90 /
Children 6 to 14 years: € 16.50 ***** Please note that as part of the "11 hours" option, you can EITHER combine Lake Chiemsee with the Eagle's Nest OR with Salzburg.

8

OPTIONAL (only possible with the 11-hour tour length "XXL-Time credit"):
For whatever reason you are interested in Salzburg's eventful history, this vibrant city will delight you with its picturesque squares and its abundance of culture, combined with Salzburg hospitality. Based on your preferences, your guide will show you on a walking tour all the historical or popular highlights of the Mozart city, such as Mozart's birthplace, Mirabell Palace with its magnificent garden, the Getreidegasse with its excellent shopping, and of course many places where the film "Sound of Music" was filmed, such as the pavilion ("Gazebo") in the palace park of Hellbrunn with its fantastic tricks fountains! ***** Please note that as part of the "11-hours" option, you can EITHER combine Lake Chiemsee with the Eagle's Nest OR with Salzburg.

9

Between the sights and during the trips to and from your hotel, you will enjoy the journey in our luxurious minivans with panoramic glass roof, full leather upholstery and all conceivable safety features and receive exciting information from your friendly and professional tour guide.
