ON REQUEST:

We are happy to arrange a HORSE-DRAWN SLEIGH/CARRIAGE RIDE for you through the romantic winter Alpine landscape to the village of Hohenschwangau (where you can change to the public carriage to Neuschwanstein Castle) or - if road conditions are suitable - directly to the castle gate of HOHENSCHWANGAU CASTLE! Prices from € 160.00 (cash only) and per private carriage (max. 6 passengers, more passengers on request).

PLEASE NOTE that you can only combine the sleigh/carriage ride with a visit to MAXIMUM ONE castle (9.5 hour tour length) or MAXIMUM TWO castles (11 hour tour length).

Stop 3

NEUSCHWANSTEIN castle - dream destination for innumerable travelers from all over the world! No building in Germany is visited more often than Ludwigs most famous fairytale castle, whose construction was begun in 1869. Especially in winter, this fairytale castle unfolds its special charm!

Soon we will reach the little village of Hohenschwangau which is the starting point for both castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. It takes only some minutes, until your guide gets the tickets (NEUSCHWANSTEIN INCLUDED) and a very detailed map for you.

Whether you want to walk up to the castles, take the shuttle-bus (not during snow and ice) or the horse-drawn carriage you can be accompanied by your guide (Horse-drawn carriage in winter only to Neuschwanstein Castle).

The guided tour in Neuschwanstein castle castle takes approx. 35 min, after that you'll walk for another 15 min through many more rooms by yourself. About the particularities of these rooms you will be well informed by your guide.

4

Mary's bridge - THE TOP VIEWPOINT - built in 1866 by King Ludwig II is one of the most famous in the world!! It can be easily reached by a shuttle bus (€ 3.00 p.p., not operating during snow and ice) from the parking lot or on a nice 40-minute uphill hike. From the bridge you'll reach the castle entrance within a 20-minute walk downhill and pass one more magnificent viewpoint! PLEASE NOTE: In snow and ice the bridge is closed!

5
Stop 5

Just as worth seeing is Hohenschwangau castle, the neo-gothic summer residence of Ludwig II's father, King Maximilian II. with a spectacular children's room.
For the 35 min guided tour a Skip-the-line-ticket can be booked, too. (Entrance fee (2023) € 21.00 per person aged 7 and more, plus 2.50 € per person Skip-the-line surcharge). ***** PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to visit Linderhof Palace in addition to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castle as well, this is only possible with the option "XXL - Time Credit"! *****

6

After the visit of the Fairy tale castles we pass Austrian territory on our way to Linderhof Palace on a breathtaking route along the mountain lake Plansee. ***** Please bring valid identification documents with you! ***** In unfavorable road conditions we drive a similarly scenic route on the Bavarian side.

7
Stop 7

LINDERHOF palace was built by King Ludwig II. in the idyllic Graswang Valley in the middle of the Ammergau Alps. Following the French model, it was the only one of the three "fairy tale castles" to be completed. Enjoy an overwhelming late Baroque decoration with Bavarian trick paintings as well as the famous "Tischlein-deck-dich" ("Little-table-set-yourself") ***** Entrance fee (2023): € 10.00 per adult / Children under 18 are free of charge! ***** ***** PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to visit Linderhof Palace in addition to Neuschwanstein AND Hohenschwangau castle, this is only possible with the option "XXL - Time Credit"! *****

8

Due to the Corona crisis, the famous Oberammergau Passion Play had to be postponed for the first time since WWII.

During our guided tour of the village we will be happy to show you the Theater building with its spectacular convertible stage and also gladly explain you the enchanting wall paintings ("Lüftlmalerei").

Take the time to go shopping - numerous shops offer souvenirs in a wide and non-expensive range, including the famous Oberammergau wood carvings.

9

If you want to see (and understand) another baroque masterpiece concerning church decorations, inserted in a 12-page domed room from the 14th century, you should follow your guide in the Ettal Benedictine monastery near a little passo, just a 5 minutes’ drive away from Oberammergau.

10

On the way to or from the castles it would be a pity to pass one of the overwhelming baroque churches.
Your guide will provide you with all the worth knowing information, for example about the very popular Wies-Church, or – what we not recommend less – one of the other nearby churches, which are still "secret tips", quiet and peaceful far away from the tourist masses.

Are you able to walk slightly uphill from the car park to Neuschwanstein castle - approx. 1,5 km/1mile in an hour's time? If not, we have to calculate additional (waiting-) time for the horse-hybrid carriage or the Shuttle bus (not operating during snow and ice) – Anyway, an approx. 450 meters/0.28 miles uphill walk (up to 15 % slope) or an approx. 500 meters/0.3 miles downhill walk (up to 19 % gradient) from the respective terminal to the entrance of the castle have to be managed in any case! We can accompany you so that you can reach your castle tour in time.
In Neuschwanstein castle there are 346 stairs alltogether (up and down) to be managed. If this is too much for you, and if you have an appropriate medical certificate of disability or restriction of mobility or similar (must be scanned and posted to us in advance), we can book an exclusive lift service only for you with a maximum of one companion, accompanied by a castle-staff. The elevator service is without additional costs, but (because of fire regulations) the number of tours with that service is very limited and must be reconfirmed by the castle authorities. In Hohenschwangau castle you have to climb stairs up to the 3rd floor and back (no elevator).
Each castle can be reached also with strollers, but they are not allowed during the tour of the interiors.
