About this experience

This 2 day journey offers a rare opportunity to experience the breathtaking winter landscapes of Tohoku region from Yamagata and Miyagi sides of Mt. Zao. Travelers will witness the mysterious beauty of the juhyo—snow monsters—twice: once from above via ropeway under magical nighttime illumination, and again up close during the day aboard a heated snowcat that ventures deep into the frozen forest.
Beyond the snow, the tour includes cultural highlights like a visit to Kumano Taisha, one of Japan’s three great Kumano shrines, known for its spiritual energy and hidden rabbit carvings said to grant wishes. Guests will also enjoy regional cuisine and a buffet dinner with unlimited drinks at a stylish hot spring resort.
With seamless transportation by Shinkansen and chartered bus, comfortable accommodations, and a carefully curated itinerary that blends nature, culture, and local flavors, this tour is perfect for travelers seeking a truly immersive and unforgettable winter experience in Japan

Juhyo is a natural phenomenon. Due to weather conditions or growth status, you may not be able to see the frost-covered trees or snowy landscapes. Typically, frost-covered trees form in December (initial stage / ice formation), January (growth stage / snow accumulation), and February (peak season). The degree of growth varies depending on weather conditions, and in the case of a warm winter, viewing may not be possible.
Snow vehicles and ropeways may be suspended or have route changes due to weather conditions, warm winters, or other reasons. If suspended, we will refund the equivalent cost depending on the situation. However, if costs are used for alternatives or changes, refunds may not apply.
Wearing thick winter clothes and warm shoes that let you move easily and comfortably is strongly recommended, as visiting spots will be very cold
On the first day, arrival at the hotel will be after the frost-covered tree illumination, so dinner may be late, around 8:00 PM.
On the second day, lunch may be late, around 2:00 PM, depending on the reservation time for the snow vehicle.
Reservations for departures on December 31 and January 1 are accepted for groups of two or more. If a request is made to change the number of participants to one person, it will be treated as a cancellation for all participants, and cancellation fees will apply to everyone.

If you will be assigned to a Japanese-style room, you will need to lay out your own futon.
For bookings of three or four people per room, you may be assigned a room with an extra bed.
