Start your journey with a comfortable coach ride from Tokyo, where you'll meet your tour conductor and head towards your first destination, Izu Fruit Park. This scenic drive takes around 2.5 hours, allowing you to relax and enjoy the views. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to a delicious lunch featuring a warming hot pot filled with delicacies like golden eye snapper (kinmedai), crab, and seasonal vegetables, paired with fragrant clam rice cooked in a traditional Japanese style. It’s a comforting and flavorful meal that reflects the richness of Shizuoka’s coastal cuisine. After lunch, you’ll head into the greenhouse for a strawberry picking experience. The strawberries are cultivated using an elevated growing method, making them easy to pick and perfect for photos. You’ll have 30 minutes of all-you-can-eat strawberry time, where you can taste the freshness of Japan’s famous sweet strawberries right off the vine.
Next, you’ll visit Mentai Park Izu, a lively and interactive facility dedicated to mentaiko—Japan’s beloved spicy cod roe. This stop is a paradise for seafood lovers and curious travelers alike. Inside, you can explore exhibits that show how mentaiko is made, and browse a wide variety of seafood products and local specialties in the shop.
Whether you're looking for a unique souvenir or a savory snack, Mentai Park offers plenty of choices. The atmosphere is cheerful and welcoming, making it a fun place to learn about Japanese food culture in a casual and engaging way.
One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to Kannami Sakura, a peaceful riverside park known for its early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms. Unlike the typical cherry blossom season in April, these vibrant pink flowers bloom from mid-February to early March, making this a rare and special sight for early spring travelers.
As you stroll along the path lined with blossoms, you may be treated to a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji rising behind the cherry trees—a truly iconic Japanese scene. This location is a hidden gem, not crowded like famous sakura spots, allowing you to enjoy the beauty in a calm and relaxed setting. Please note that visibility of Mt. Fuji depends on the weather, but even without it, the cherry blossoms alone are worth the visit.
Before heading back to Tokyo, you’ll stop at the Roadside Station Numazu Gourmet Club, a popular local market offering a wide selection of regional products. Here, you’ll receive a special seafood gift set to take home, including dried horse mackerel, golden eye snapper, and barracuda. These items are dried and preserved, making them easy to carry and perfect for enjoying later or sharing with friends and family. In addition to seafood, you’ll also get to choose 2 traditional Japanese sweets from a selection of 5, made by the renowned Shizuoka confectionery brand Gashinen.
To end the day, a mini dinner bento box will be served on the bus. This comforting meal includes local favorites from Shizuoka’s famous Tenjinya, such as the original tanuki rice ball with crunchy tempura bits, a shirasu rice ball topped with baby sardines, bite-sized fried chicken, and a slice of Japanese-style omelet.
Meet inside the bus terminal on the first floor of the Bunka Kaikan Bldg. inside Sunshine City. Approx. 20 min walk from Ikebukuro Station. Please arrive at least 10 min before the scheduled meeting time. The tour conductor will be holding a flag and a placard with the local tour operator's logo.
