The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. directly named after the ship Bombay, The ship itself was named after the Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai). Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.

We stop to get some great coffee at your own expense and a comfort break before we continue our journey into the Waikato region.

We will also pass through the unique town of Tirau (the corrugated iron sculpture capital of the world) known for its antique shops and animal-shaped corrugated iron buildings.

Your 2.5 hours journey meanders through the treetops via walking trails, swing bridges, platforms, and zip lines/ flying foxes at heights of up to 40 metres above the ground! We will take you into an ancient, pristine, forest where you’ll see and hear lots of beautiful native birds up close. You’ll also find yourself 22m up in the air on our highest platform and cross some phenomenal swing bridges. These vantage points will give you a whole new perspective on how special New Zealand’s native forests really are.

After an exhilarating fun-filled adventure experience at Rotorua, it is now time to head back to Auckland to conclude your evening and drop-off at your hotel in Auckland. We can also drop you at your accommodation in Rotorua if you are staying locally in the region.

Minimum age of six years old. There is no upper age limit – so far the oldest customer was 93!
Maximum weight limit is 120kg. Please advise if your child weighs less than 35kg
Children (15 years and under) must be accompanied by a responsible adult (16 years or over).
Please dress with an additional layer of clothing & closed toe footwear
You will be provided with wet weather gear (if required) & all safety equipment
You are welcome to bring your camera but it must have a small strap that can be attached to your harness
Good fitness level required - must have the ability to hike and walk for at least 1-hour
Ability to walk up 3 flights of stairs unassisted
We need all participants to be able to raise both knees to hip height (to fly safely into platforms).
Tours operate in all weather conditions even if it is raining.
All equipment is industry standard and well maintained. Participants are well informed and properly equipped before each activity.
The forest is usually a few degrees colder than it is in city and can get quite frosty in the winter, we recommend a warm pair of socks and one more layer than what you are comfortable in outside.
High quality wet weather gear and an extra warm outer layer can be supplied
If you have a GoPro, bring it! You will get some amazing footage, we recommend a helmet mount/ head strap, wrist mount or selfie stick. Don’t forget to charge your batteries before coming on tour.
Bringing your camera is at your own risk, we recommend ensuring that your camera has a strap that you can attach to yourself or can be kept in a zip pocket.
If pregnant, we do not recommend participating if you are past 20weeks (something to look forward to in a few months!)
