What you'll see

The chosen tour invites you to spend the day at the surrounding of Athens to enjoy both the rich history but also the beautiful nature. A few kilometers outside the city you will see how far the Athenian glory got along the sea and land, with the impressive temple in Sounion and the glorious battlefield in Marathon.
The tour starts by visiting the Marathon Lake which was formed after the construction of the dam. Its primary purpose was Athens’ water supply but it’s not used anymore. Today is the home of many bird and plant species. Our next stop is the Marathon museum with beautiful exhibits from the Neolithic Era till the Roman period. After the museum we will visit the tumulus of the Athenian soldiers who were killed during the marathon battle, which is also the birth place of the world famous marathon race. Then we will visit the temple and sanctuary of goddess Diana, goddess of hunting which is well preserved. Our next stop is cape Sounion where stands the temple of Poseidon, god of the sea, and the amazing view of the Aegean Sea.
