Step into the vibrant energy of Tokyo after dark with a guided walking tour through Shinjuku’s most dynamic backstreets. From glowing neon lights to tucked-away alleys lined with tiny bars and eateries, this experience takes you deep into the heart of Tokyo’s nightlife scene.
We’ll have a bite in Omoide Yokocho, a postwar alley packed with sizzling yakitori and nostalgic charm, stroll past the bright lights of Kabukicho, and have a drink in the legendary Golden Gai, where hundreds of tiny bars each tell their own story. Along the way, you’ll discover local favorites, learn about Japan’s nightlife culture, and soak in the unforgettable atmosphere of the city that never sleeps.
Please note: Food and drinks are not included in the tour price. There is one food stop and one bar stop. Entry to bars or clubs outside of Golden Gai (Hostess bars, Cabaret Clubs, Girls' Bars, and Show Pubs) is possible but is not included in the tour price.
The tour starts in the retro izakaya area Omoide Yokocho, the nostalgic alleyway filled with great places to eat. We stop for a bite to eat here.
It's a short walk to Kabukicho, Japan's biggest red-light entertainment district, where interesting shops and characters will make an impression on you. We explore the area.
Next, we enter the Golden Gai district, a delightful eclectic maze of over 200 bars and pubs unlike anywhere in the world. It's a great place to see locals and other travelers while experiencing retro Tokyo vibes. We stop for a drink here.
Meet just outside the ground floor (street level) of the UNIQLO Shinjuku Nishiguchi shop. Your guide will be holding a sign that says, "TOKYO". Please arrive a few minutes early as the tour will leave on time.
