It takes approximately 3 hours to get to Wilpattu National Park from Negombo. The park will open at 7:00 am. Once you get there you will be going on a 7 hour jeep safari. Before you go in you will have the chance to look through some of the informational leaflets at the entrance, and possibly even purchase a booklet on the wildlife - if you are interested.

Wilpattu National Park was started in 1905 as a sanctuary for wildlife, and was upgraded into a National Park in 1938. With a size of 1,317 square kilometers, it’s one of the oldest and largest national parks in Sri Lanka. It hosts a variety of vegetation, over 30 species of mammals, and several tens of species of birds and reptiles.
