The train starts its journey from Colombo Railway station by 0830 hrs. The train would reach Ella by 1716 hrs. and the most scenic part of the train journey is from Haputale to Hatton.

During the journey the train goes passing lush greenish tea estates, many tunnels, farming fields, villages, various types of forests etc
