Kaohsiung departure > 安平樹屋(德紀洋行)Anping Tree House > 台南安平古堡 Anping Fort ~ 安平老街 Anping Old Street ~ 台南孔廟 Confucius Temple > 林百貨(台灣最老百貨公司)Hayashi Department Store (The oldest department store in Taiwan) > Return to Kaohsiung
The tree house was built around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the Japanese occupation. After more than a hundred years of vicissitudes, the walls of the warehouse are covered with the aerial roots of banyan trees. The dense crowns of the towering banyan trees seem to have become the roof of the warehouse, giving the Anping Tree House a rare appearance and mysterious atmosphere.
Nowadays, there are well-planned wooden boardwalks that allow people to travel between tree houses, or go up into the treetops. You can often see many squirrels and birds playing among the treetops, and the ecology is good. If you are tired from walking, you can take a break at the Tree House Café in the Tree House Park, have an ice cream to cool off, and continue to explore the beauty of Anping.

A simple fortress was built by the Dutch East India Company in October 1623, demolished at the end of April 1624, and rebuilt on the original site at the end of August. It was completed in 1634 and is the earliest fortress building in Taiwan. Since its establishment, the city has been the center of the Dutch and Ming Zheng rule in Taiwan.

The first Confucius Temple in Taiwan
Tainan Confucius Temple was founded in the 19th year of the Yongli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1665). At that time, it was called the "Temple of the First Teacher". It has a history of more than 300 years. It was founded by the Zheng Dynasty, the first Han Chinese regime on the island, in order to provide education in Taiwan and cultivate talents to serve the country. It continued to function during the Qing Dynasty and was the location of Taiwan Prefecture University, the highest official institution of learning in Taiwan. To this day, the Confucius Temple remains a holy temple for scholars and enjoys a lofty status.
When Hayashi Department Store was completed, it was the tallest building in Tainan. It was equipped with elevators, rolling doors and other modern facilities that were rare at the time. It was a symbol of the prosperity of Tainan's Suehirocho during the Japanese colonial period.[1] It closed down after World War II and was converted to other uses and left idle for a long time. It was later announced as a historic site in Tainan City. After the overall restoration of the building, the Tainan City Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau outsourced Gaoqing Fashion to operate it as a "cultural and creative department store" and it reopened on June 14, 2014.
