The defensive wall is the origin of the name Wall Street. It was just a wooden wall, but no one would have imagined that it would become the home of the first Capitol building of the United States and later the center of global finance. This is the southernmost park in Manhattan. Many street performers gather here. Ferries to the Statue of Liberty Island depart from here. Ferries to Staten Island also depart from next door. It was originally Fort Clinton, where cannons were lined up to fight the British Navy during the Revolutionary War, and is called the Battery from the word battery.

DUMBO is an abbreviation of "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass".
