Stop 2

Take a picturesque journey up to the protected nature reserve in Gibraltar that covers over 40% of the territory’s land area, with stops at the most well known view points up the Rock! It is an area of considerable natural beauty and an important resting point for migrating birds.

3

A limestone cave location at the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, once believed to be the Gates of Hades, an entrance to the underworld. Although in a complete, natural state, this cave is beautifully lit, often used for performances. Earliest writings of this cave lead back to 45AD. Learn about the complex history of the cave and its various uses throughout the ages from ancient civilizations to modern day. Immerse yourself in the mystery and wonder that surrounds this cave through the tales and legends of the past. Don’t miss out on the fallen stalagmite that became too heavy and fell thousands of years ago, which now reveals its magnificent interior structure in a most dramatic way.

4

Gibraltar is uniquely home to the only wild monkey population in the whole of Europe. A great opportunity to view our wildlife packs living on the steep slopes of the Rock. Learn all about the history of their presence on the Rock, current maintenance and all the legends that surround these curious animals. All in all, a visit to Gibraltar would certainly not be complete without having seen the Gibraltar monkeys up close. It’s an experience of a lifetime and definitely not one that should be missed!
