On Winter Tours (November to April) we visit the National Elk Refuge just north of the town of Jackson.

There are thousands of elk on the refuge and the local wolves follow their preferred down out of the mountains. This is the best time to see wolves in Jackson Hole.

The refuge is also the winter home of the Jackson herd of big horn sheep. During their December rut the rams put on a quite a show head-butting each other to win the right to mate with the ewes.
