About this experience

The Chimborazo volcano is the highest volcano in Ecuador, it stands at 6,268 meters above sea level, it is something unique on the planet and it is the highest volcano in the world measured from the center of the planet earth.

The tour departs from the city of Quito with embarkation and disembarkation at hotels throughout the tourist area (airport hotels with an additional charge). We headed to the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve located 4 hours from the city of Quito.
Upon arrival we will visit the first refuge to acclimatize and then walk up to the second refuge or the Condorcocha lagoon located 1 hour walk from the second refuge.

On the way back to Quito we will make a stop at a restaurant for lunch (not included).

Detailed itinerary

The tour starts at 06:00 am, from the city of Quito in private transportation. Touring the avenue of the volcanoes, being able to observe the Ilinizas Norte and Sur, the Cotopaxi, the Heart, the Tungurahua, the Carihuairazo on the way, until reaching the Arenales area and accessing the refuge of this imposing colossus that has the altitude of 6,310, in this tour we will be able to walk to the Condor Cocha lagoon which is located
5,100 altitude, in this place we find a wealth of flora and fauna such as the Vicuña, a species of Camelid, at the end of the walk and visit we headed towards the city of Ambato for lunch. After it we continue back to the city of Quito.

We will walk from the first shelter located at 4800 meters, to 5100 where there is a valley and a temporary lagoon called Micacocha. It is a short but demanding route, it is advisable to bring winter clothing and snow.

We will visit part of the beautiful province of Chimborazo, where the highest volcano in Ecuador is located. The landscapes and scenery are beautiful, full of mountains, animals and crops of different colors.
