Detailed itinerary

1

The smallest city in the world, Hum is a symbol of medieval architecture and culture. Thanks to its shape, we can safely say that this small town is entirely a city-monument. Legend has it that Hum was created from the remaining stones used by giants to build cities in the Mirna River Valley. Come to Istria and discover all the beauties of historic Hum.

2

The Museum of Hum Aura is located in a medieval building in the smallest town in the world – Hum in Istria. The building played an important role in creating the social, economic, and political life of Homjans (the citizens of Hum). The permanent exhibition of the museum consists of almost 1500 exhibits carefully arranged in 11 thematic units. Each room represents an indispensable segment of the ancestors' life and dominant craft shops in the last 150 years: pharmacy, school, post office, shop, distillery, shoemaker, carpenter, tailor, mill, fresco painting workshop, and a thematic room dedicated to the Glagolitic script. Five rooms are interactive, so in the school, you can write a postcard using Glagolitic letters and send it to your home address from the post office. You can also make your own cream in the pharmacy, as all the necessary ingredients are provided. You can grind coffee beans in an old mill and fill a bottle of brandy with your signed label in an old distillery.

3

Experience the beauty of one of Opatija’s most beautiful parks, described as the green heart of the town. The camellia, which thrives in this park, has become a symbol of Opatija. Centar part of the park is Villa Angiolina, the neo-renaissance mansion, built in 1844 by Iginio Scarpa and named after his wife, was the reason why Opatija became the main seaside resort in Austria-Hungary. Today the place is home to the museum of Croatian tourism.

4

Take a photo with the most famous statue in Opatija located on the promontory in front of the one-time cemetery.

5

Take a walk down the famous coastal promenade, favourite walking path for local people and tourists. Enjoy the fresh sea air and a beautiful coastal landscape while finding out interesting facts about Opatija's past.
