Barrio de San Matías Jalatlaco has its origin in the year 1486 as a settlement of Mexica soldiers; It is part of the area of historical monuments of the City of Oaxaca de Juárez and its Catholic temple was erected in honor of San Matías, it was built at the end of the 17th century and declared a historical monument in 1941.
