About this experience

Explore San Diego's most beautiful stretch of coastline from Carlsbad to Solana Beach. Our bikes are fun to ride and you can get as much or as little exercise as you would like. You do not need prior experience riding an electric bike to enjoy this ride as long as you know how to ride a bike. The train ride coupled with the electric bike ride makes for a really fun day of entertainment at a reasonable price. Our tour is conducted on your cell phone with map and audio included.

The Solana Beach COASTER train station is only a block or so from our store. You can ride the train to our store from anywhere in San Diego rather than drive (avoid all the traffic too).

What you'll see

Want to ride the rails and explore on your electric bike? The tour begins at our store and then a short ride to the Solana Beach Train Station. We will give you the money to purchase your ticket at our store before departure. Its time to hop on the train with your Pedego electric bike headed to Carlsbad. The train follows the coastline, so you can enjoy spectacular views along the way. The bike portion of the experience begins at the Carlsbad Train Station where you depart the train. As you ride back to Solana Beach you will enjoy incredible coastline vistas, white sand beaches, meditation gardens, local history, and mouth watering restaurants. The bike riding leg of the tour is about 16 miles with 14 stops along the way. The tour will explore the villages of Solana Beach, Cardiff by the Sea, Encinitas, Leucadia, and Carlsbad.

The tour is a cell phone guided tour app. The map on your phone will show you the stops and the route we recommend. It will also show your position along the route, so you won’t get lost. When you get close to a scheduled stop, your app tour guide will share information, history and stories with you. Do not forget your ear buds or earphones for best audio enjoyment.
Our rental bikes come with a cell phone holder on the handlebar and a USB port to keep your phone charged from the bikes power source. BRING YOUR PHONE CHARGING CORD WITH A STANDARD USB PLUG. A nylon windbreaker is a good idea, even in the summer. It can get chilly along the coastal route.
